چکیده

1. Rat soleus (SOL) and extensor digitorum longus (EDL) muscles, stored for 2-6hrs at 30•Ž in Krebs' solution with rat serum in higher concentration than 2%, showed low internal Na and high internal K concentrations as compared with control muscles stored in the normal saline solution. Such a serum effect on the EDL muscles decreased with lowering of temperature of the external solution. 2. The rabbit, cow and cat serum in concentration of 5% as well as rat serum had a beneficial effect on the maintenance of electrolyte concentrations in EDL muscles. 3. In addition, the resting potential of EDL muscles stored in Krebs' solution with 5% rat serum at 30•Ž for 4 hrs was slightly greater than that in control muscles. A significant increase was found in the magnitude of action potential of the serum-treated muscles.

Effects of ionic parameters on behavior of a skeletal muscle fiber model

All living cells have a membrane which separates inside the cell from it's outside. There is a potential difference between inside and outside of the cell. This potential difference will change during an action potential. It is quite common to peruse action potentials of skeletal muscle fibers with the Hodgkin-Huxley model. Since Hodgkin and Huxley summarized some controlling currents like inwa...

Contracture Coupling of Slow Striated Muscle in Non-Ionic Solutions and Replacement of Calcium, Sodium, and Potassium

The development of contracture related to changes of ionic environment (ionic contracture coupling) has been studied in the slowly responding fibers of frog skeletal muscle. When deprived of external ions for 30 minutes by use of solutions of sucrose, mannitol, or glucose, the slow skeletal muscle fibers, but not the fast, develop pronounced and easily reversible contractures. Partial replaceme...

بررسی فعالیت حلقه های گاما دوک عضلانی و α-γ Linkage در دم موش (Rat)

Background and purpose : Muscle spindle is responsible for the control of skeletal muscle fibers function at rest and movement cycle, and is known as servo agent for voluntary movement. Function of this kinetic neceptor is completely dependent on the γ- ring activity would bring activity of la fiber and group ÏÏ spindle muscle afferent. Âlso, there is close functional of muscle relationship b...

Monovalent cationic channel activity in the inner membrane of nuclei from skeletal muscle fibers.

Nuclear ion channels remain among the least studied and biophysically characterized channels. Although considerable progress has been made in characterizing calcium release channels in the nuclear membrane, very little is known regarding the properties of nuclear monovalent cationic channels. Here, we describe a method to isolate nuclei from adult skeletal muscle fibers that are suitable for el...

The Influence of High Potassium Depolarization and Acetylcholine on Calcium Exchange in the Rat Uterus

I N T R O D U C T I O N Heilbrunn and Wiercinski in 1947 (1) were the first to demonstrate by injecting various ions into single skeletal muscle fibers that of the physiologically important ions only Ca activated the contractile mechanism when its myoplasmic concentration was raised. Recently Portzehl, Caldwell, and Ruegg (2) injected Ca-EDTA buffers into crab muscle fibers and found the thresh...
